Hey everybody,
I want to take this moment to talk a bit about Friday’s event at the Power and Light, Kong’s Jam 4 Life. It’s an honor for me to be shooting this event because I’ve always had the highest regard for Jerry, I’ve been friends with members of all of these bands for years now, and I’m really excited for this to be a huge success, not only for Jerry but for everyone who has been affected by cancer, whether having it or losing someone close who had it.
If you’re hesitating because it’s $20 to get in, know that the proceeds are going to the Jerry Bayton Fund and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Plus there are going to be drink and food specials including $3 domestic pints (all night). And I believe that free T-shirts are going to be given away to the first 100 people. If you’re hesitating because you have kids, well bring them along because this is an all-ages event and kids under 12 get in for free until 9pm (but can stay the whole night). If you’re hesitating because of parking, there are plenty of parking garages within a block or two of the P&L that are really not that expensive to park in. If you’re hesitating because its “downtown”…oh come on, now you’re just making excuses. Sometimes it’s good to get out of the suburbs
So to wrap up, this is a very important cause and it’s going to be a really fun event. Jerry himself will be performing with his old band Symetrix at 8pm in what is sure to be one of the emotional high points of the night, so you don’t want to miss that. It is Jerry’s hope (as well as all of us who are involved) that Jam 4 Life becomes an annual event, and we all need your help to make that happen.
